How to edit a Mathematical Accuracy (MA) Suggestion in FSS

In DataSnipper version 6.1 and later, you have the ability to edit Mathematical Accuracy (MA) Suggestions with MA Suggestions Editor.

About MA Suggestions Editor

Ensure accuracy in your financial statements with our MA Suggestions Editor. When the Financial Statement Suite doesn’t capture all totals or correctly identify every part of a sum, you can step in. Simply adjust system-generated suggestions by pinpointing the correct parts of a sum. Plus, once you start working on a new version of the financial statement, the edited tickmark will also transfer to the next version.

💡 Please note that the ability to create and edit Mathematical Accuracy suggestions is only supported by DataSnipper version 6.1 and later.

About the Financial Statement Suite

Financial Statement Suite (FSS) is a separate paid DataSnipper Add-on module. FSS automatically analyzes your financial statements and helps to both perform and document all financial statement procedures extremely fast, while relying on your judgment – improving standardization and the overall quality of procedures.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Begin by clicking the Financial Statement Suite button in the top right-hand corner of the DataSnipper tab within Excel.
  2. Select the current and prior year versions of your financial statement to start the tick & tie.
  3. DataSnipper automatically places suggestions of valid totals and errors. By hovering over the numbers, you can quickly analyze the suggestions and place tickmarks.
  4. If you notice an error where the parts of the sum were incorrectly identified (e.g. one number not being included in the calculation), you can correct it by editing the suggestion.
  5. Click on the sum, and a red tickmark will appear to indicate this calculation is mathematically incorrect.
  6. Click on the red tickmark and then click ‘Edit calculation’.
  7. Drag your cursor over the numbers that you want to include in the calculation to verify its mathematical accuracy.
  8. Click ‘Finish’.
  9. The new calculation now verifies that the mathematical accuracy is correct, and therefore the tickmark has turned blue.
