Learn how to resolve the missing DataSnipper instance issue in the WebSnip Extension.

About the WebSnip Extension

The WebSnip Extension lets you extract and validate data from web pages. It increases the credibility of your evidence by capturing the URL and timestamp of your screenshot and syncing them directly to Excel for desktop. By removing manual steps and third-party apps, you can import data quickly, reduce the chance of human error, and keep data capture from web pages consistent.

Prerequisites

  • DataSnipper v6 or later

  • DataSnipper OCR or Private OCR

  • Chrome or Edge browser

Steps to resolve the issue

1. Check that your organisation has the DataSnipper WebSnip Extension

  • Open Excel for desktop and go to the DataSnipper tab.

  • Open the Learn dropdown menu and select About.

  • Look for DataSnipper WebSnip Extension in the list of DataSnipper products. If it is listed, continue to the next step.

2. Restart Excel for desktop

  • Close Excel completely.

  • Reopen Excel and check whether the issue persists.

3. Restart your web browser

  • Close the browser where WebSnip is installed entirely.

  • Reopen the browser and try using WebSnip again.

These steps should resolve the missing DataSnipper instance. If the issue persists after completing them, submit a support ticket.
