How to use Snips on DataSnipper Excel Online

How to use Text, Validation, Exception, and Sum Snips on DataSnipper Excel Online to extract data and cross-reference evidence with your workbook.

Use Snips on DataSnipper Excel Online to cross-reference your workbook with PDF evidence files, extract data, and document audit and finance procedures.

Prerequisites

  • Microsoft Excel Online

  • Microsoft email account

  • User-level licensing enabled in the Admin panel

Text Snip

  1. Click Text Snip to activate it.

  2. Select the cell you want to link to the document.

  3. Draw a rectangle around the data on the document. The extracted data appears in the cell and is linked to that location.

Validation Snip

  1. Click Validation Snip to activate it.

  2. Select the cell you want to link to the document.

  3. Draw a rectangle around the relevant location. A tickmark appears in the cell, linked to that location.

Exception Snip

  1. Click Exception Snip to activate it.

  2. Select the cell you want to link to the document.

  3. Draw a rectangle around the relevant location. A cross mark appears in the cell, linked to that location.

Sum Snip

  1. Click Sum Snip to activate it.

  2. Select the cell you want to link to the document.

  3. Draw a rectangle around the numbers you want to sum. All numbers in the rectangle are totalled into the selected cell, with a cross-reference stored in the workbook.

Deleting Snips

Select one or more snips in the Excel file and click Delete Snips in the DataSnipper toolbar. Alternatively, right-click a snip in the document viewer and select Delete Snip to remove a single snip.
