Getting Started with Alwin

Alwin by DataSnipper is the Agentic Automation Platform built specifically for audit and finance.

What is Alwin?

Agents run engagements and procedures end-to-end, from planning and collecting evidence, through verifying and reporting, applying your methodology and handing off to humans for judgement and oversight. Leaving you, the professional, with a ready-to-review defensible file the moment the agent completes the work. Humans plan the work, apply judgement and sign off. Every conclusion made is traceable back to its source, fully defensible by design.

Step-by-step guide:

Login to app.datasnipper.com. From the Home page, review lists of tasks waiting on you, and every task you own by status (Draft, Needs input, Needs review, and done).

Spaces keep separate engagements, clients, or teams cleanly organized. Click the Space in the top-left corner to jump straight into a different spaces, spin up a brand-new one with “New space,” or open “Manage spaces” to control who has access to each. Switching spaces keeps each engagement's tasks, agents, and files separate, which makes review and hand-off far easier when you're juggling several clients at once.

Open a project (for example, “Payables and Expenses”) to see its dedicated task board. Tasks are organized into columns, Draft, Running, Needs input, Needs review, and Done, so you can see the status of every task at a glance.

Click Add New task, then give the task a clear name (for example, “Consolidation Review”). You can add extra instructions describing what you want the agent to work on, and/or assign an agent to the task. Use Add documents to give the agent the files it needs, upload them directly, pull them from an existing project, or add them from a connected integration such as SharePoint or OneDrive, before clicking Send.

Once you send the task, the Timeline panel on the right updates in real time, showing each action the agent takes, for example, reading trial balances or reviewing supporting documents, so you can follow its progress as it works toward the stated objective.

Once the agent has gathered evidence, it opens the resulting workbook in. Snipped cells link straight back to the source document, so you can verify each figure against its original evidence without leaving the sheet.

Add your review notes next to the relevant cells in the workbook, then send it to the Agent for further review and to work on.

Back on the task board, confirm each task has moved to the right status (Running, Needs input, or Done). From here you can also open “Manage access” to add teammates to the space and control whether they have view-only or full access.
