DataSnipper's Box and Dropbox integrations let you browse, search, and import files from Box or Dropbox into DataSnipper for Excel. Most connections work right away. If your organisation restricts third-party or custom apps, your Box or Dropbox admin will need to complete a short one-time step first.
Enable Box
Go through the connection as normal:
Click on the Integration icon from the DataSnipper ribbon and start the Box connection flow.
Log in with your Box email and password.
Approve the permissions screen when it appears.
You're done, the connection is active immediately.
If your company has locked down custom app access in Box, you'll be blocked or see an admin approval message instead of the permissions screen. In that case, your Box admin needs to complete these steps first:
Go to the Box Admin Console.
Navigate to Platform, then Platform Apps.
Paste in this Client ID: 3x81ykhajzis8wn8myimqpwjp89p66hy
Click Approve when prompted to confirm the app.
Once approved, go through the normal connection steps above to finish connecting.
Enable Dropbox
Go through the connection as normal:
Click on the Integration icon from the DataSnipper ribbon and start the Dropbox connection flow.
Log in with your Dropbox email and password.
Approve the permissions screen when it appears.
You're done, the connection is active immediately.
If your company has blocked third-party apps in Dropbox, you'll be able to sign in but the connection won't complete. In that case, your Dropbox admin needs to complete these steps first:
Log in to dropbox.com as a team admin and open the Admin console.
Click Settings, then open the Integrations tab.
Click Add exception.
Paste in this App key: i1qj5s9czgt03zc
Click Next, then choose Allow.
Once approved, go through the normal connection steps above to finish connecting.
Good to know
Blocking apps doesn't disconnect anyone who's already connected, so it's normal for one colleague to be blocked while another connects fine.
In Dropbox, searching by file content (not just file name) requires a paid Dropbox plan.
