Overview
Using ManageDS (https://manage.datasnipper.com), admins can add users and assign DataSnipper licenses to their organisation. Only users with admin rights can manage licences.
ManageDS is the current customer admin portal. ManageDS does not provide one organisation dropdown for switching between separate licences. Access to each organisation is provisioned separately; if you cannot access an organisation you manage, your Customer Success Manager can confirm or arrange the required access.
This article covers subscription-based licence management. For sales-related questions, contact the DataSnipper team directly.
Dashboard roles and access
The two dashboard roles are Owner and Viewer. An Excel Add-In Member role and UpLink roles are separate product roles.
Customers cannot see their own Owner or Viewer dashboard role. The Members page shows email, name, last action and available actions; it does not show a customer-visible role column.
Contact DataSnipper Support to confirm or change your dashboard role. Your own licence status does not confirm a colleague's dashboard role or access.
Sign in to ManageDS
If your dashboard administrator account was set up through an activation email, follow that email's activation link. This administrator setup is separate from adding an ordinary product user in User Management.
Sign in with your work email using the method configured for your organisation. Depending on the setup, enter a one-time email verification code or continue through your organisation's SSO provider. A Microsoft account is not universally required.
Add users with manual user management
In ManageDS, click Invite User.
Enter the email address of the user you want to assign a licence to.
To assign yourself a product licence, click Invite User and enter your own work email address in the same way.
Adding an ordinary user in User Management does not send an invitation email. The user remains Pending until first sign-in; an invitation or download email is not a prerequisite for that first sign-in.
The user should sign in from DataSnipper in Excel using the authentication method configured for the organisation. For email-code authentication, the verification email is triggered when the added user first attempts to sign in. For active SSO, the user signs in through the organisation's identity provider.
Users managed through Directory Sync
If Directory Sync manages the user, ask the administrator to confirm the assigned directory group and provisioning result. Manage these users through that group instead of adding a duplicate manually.
