How to resolve Invalid License Key messages when installing DataSnipper

Resolve an Invalid License Key error from a DataSnipper MSI installation using the supplied installer package. DocuMine feature access is a separate troubleshooting path.

This article covers an Invalid License Key message shown during an actual DataSnipper MSI installation. Where the supplied installer package includes license.txt, the package and licence-file checks below apply to that installer. They are not DocuMine feature-access prerequisites and do not establish an installation fault when the error or installation stage is unknown.

DocuMine is a feature in the DataSnipper ribbon in Excel. If the issue is that DocuMine is missing or unavailable after DataSnipper is installed, use Getting started with DocuMine. When the stage or error text is unavailable, checking whether the DataSnipper ribbon and DocuMine are visible provides a useful starting point; DataSnipper Support can help with the information available.

Standard install (running the MSI)

If you run the MSI installer directly and no license.txt file is present in the installation folder, you will see a license error. This also happens if the installer package has not been unzipped first.

To resolve this, unzip the installer package and confirm license.txt is in the same folder as the MSI, then re-run the installer.

Command line installation

When installing via the command line, copy the full content of the license.txt file and paste it after LICENSEKEY= in your install string. Ensure there are no extra spaces or line breaks.

If you are still seeing invalid key messages after following these steps, contact your DataSnipper representative to obtain the correct license.txt file or installer package.
