How to add a Text Snip to a document

Extract text from PDFs, images, and other documents directly into an Excel cell using the Text Snip in DataSnipper for Excel.

With the Text Snip, you can extract text from all sorts of documents directly into a cell in Excel.

About Snipping

With DataSnipper for Excel you can cross-reference Excel with supporting evidence, like PDFs, images, MS Word and Excel files. The references are stored in the workbook, making it very easy to review audit procedures.

Before you start

DataSnipper supports extracting text from PDFs, images, MS Word files, and Excel files. If your document is a scan or image with no text layer, run Text Recognition (OCR) first so DataSnipper can read the content accurately.

Extracting data with the Text Snip

  1. Press the Text Snip button to activate it.

  2. Select the cell that you want to link to the document.

  3. Draw a rectangle around the location of the data on the document.

  4. The data that appears in the cell is now linked to the rectangle on the document.
