Frequently asked questions about Form Extraction in DataSnipper.
Can Form Extraction link to ticked boxes, signatures, and stamps?
Yes. Set up an extraction over the location where the tick, signature, or stamp should appear. If the layout is consistent across documents, DataSnipper creates a Text Snip at that location for each file. This gives you a cross-reference to exactly where the element appears, making it easy to check whether it is present on each form.
How does DataSnipper know what data to extract?
DataSnipper uses a key: a reference text found near the extraction point on the document. The key appears once on each form and is close to the extraction to serve as a consistent anchor. DataSnipper searches for this key on every page and extracts data based on its distance from the key. You can edit the key by clicking the three-dots menu on the extraction and selecting Edit key.
Is there a layout option for extracting data by rows?
Yes. Form Extraction supports multiple frequency modes. The Line mode locates an identifier key and extracts the required data at line level, suitable for row-based structures such as payment listings or transaction logs.
When using Company Templates, can individual users edit the extractions?
Yes, with a limitation. An individual user can click Edit on a specific extraction to modify it locally. This works as a local override and does not change the Company Template for other users. Individual users cannot overwrite the shared template, but they can adjust extractions to handle nuances in their own files.
