Overview
DataSnipper is a locally installed Excel add-in. Workbooks and client documents are processed on their own machine and are not sent to or stored on DataSnipper servers. All traffic that does leave the machine is encrypted with TLS 1.2.
What is transmitted to DataSnipper services
Generally, we send metrics data to api.datasnipper.com and use it to verify license, but other than that data stays local. All traffic that does leave the machine is encrypted with TLS 1.2.
What is transmitted to DataSnipper services (only when internet is available):
User Management & license validation
For customers using User Management(UMS), DataSnipper makes an outgoing internet connection to validate the license. From version 26 onwards, signing in via UMS is compulsory.
What stays local and never leaves your environment
Your Excel workbooks and their contents.
Client documents and their content (except an OCR image, if OCR is used, which is processed and then discarded).
Any business data, cell values, or file metadata beyond the anonymized telemetry above.
Integrations (SharePoint / OneDrive)
File content does not pass through DataSnipper's cloud. Files download directly from SharePoint/OneDrive to the add-in via a pre-signed URL; DataSnipper only stores lightweight connection metadata.

The legacy DataSnipper features (Snips, Document Matching, cross-referencing) stay on board and run locally.
Our legacy features (Snipping, Form Extraction, Document Matching, and related tools) keep your workbook and client files fully offline. We also offer optional AI-powered services, including OCR, Excel Agents, DocuMine, DS Web, and Deep Agents. These process documents on our servers for up to 24 hours, subject to our Data Processing Agreement.
