How to use the integrations in DataSnipper for Excel
Connect SharePoint or OneDrive to DataSnipper for Excel to browse, search, and import files from your document management system without leaving Excel. This article shows you how to connect to each integration and import files into your workbook.
Prerequisites:
To enable the integrations, your organisation needs:
- DataSnipper v26.2 or later
- The User Management System (UMS)
- An accepted Data Processing Agreement (DPA) covering integrations. Once accepted, the DPA covers all current and future integrations.
- A Microsoft 365 administrator account in your tenant.
Note: Integrations are not enabled by default. If you do not see the Integrations button in the DataSnipper ribbon, contact your DataSnipper admin or IT team.
Connect to SharePoint or OneDrive
- In Excel, open the DataSnipper ribbon.
- Select Integrations.
- Choose SharePoint or OneDrive.
- Sign in with your Microsoft 365 account and authorise the connection.
You only need to authorise each integration once. After the first connection, DataSnipper remembers it for future sessions.
Import files manually
- In Excel, open the DataSnipper ribbon and select Integrations.
- Choose SharePoint or OneDrive.
- Browse or search for the files you want.
- Select the files and import them.
Imported files are added to your workbook and ready to snip.
Video Tutorial
Search looks inside file content as well as file names. You can find a document by a word or phrase inside it, even if that word is not in the title.
Import files with Excel Agents
If your team uses DataSnipper's Excel Agents, ask an agent to fetch documents in natural language, for example: "Import the latest Q1 vendor contracts from SharePoint." The agent uses the same connection set up for manual imports.
Working with imported files
Updates to source files do not sync automatically. Imported files are embedded in your workbook. If the original file changes in SharePoint or OneDrive, your workbook is not updated. Re-import the file to pick up the latest version.
Shared workbooks include all imported files. When you share a workbook, your colleagues see every imported document and cross-reference, even if they do not have access to the original SharePoint or OneDrive location. Imported files travel with the workbook.

FAQs
Do I need to be on the latest version of DataSnipper?
Yes — v26.2 or later is required.
Can I import the same file multiple times?
Yes. Re-importing a file pulls the current version from SharePoint or OneDrive into your workbook.
Can someone I share my workbook with see the imported documents?
Yes. Imported documents and all cross-references are visible to anyone with access to the workbook.
Does DataSnipper have access to my files outside of what I import?
No. DataSnipper requests read-only access and only retrieves files you explicitly select.
