How to update or uninstall DataSnipper

Prerequisites

1. You can request your DataSnipper installation link directly from Tally, our AI support agent, via the chat bubble in the bottom right corner of our knowledge base. Alternatively, reach out to your Customer Success Manager if you need assistance. (e.g. DataSnipper Installer Vx.x.x.zip)

Update DataSnipper

Updating DataSnipper follows the same process as installing DataSnipper. The update process will automatically remove the currently installed version of DataSnipper.

1. Download the new setup package from the installation link.

2. Unzip the setup package (e.g. DataSnipper Installer Vx.x.x.zip). 

3. Run Setup.msi, follow the steps in the installation wizard to update DataSnipper. The installation process will allow you to remove older versions of DataSnipper.

Uninstall DataSnipper

Option 1: Uninstall via Windows Settings (recommended)

1. Open Windows Settings (press Windows key + I)
2. Go to Apps > Installed apps (Windows 11) or Apps > Apps & Features (Windows 10)
3. Search for "DataSnipper"
4. Click the three dots (⋯) next to DataSnipper, then select Uninstall
5. Follow the prompts to complete the removal

Option 2: Uninstall using the installer package

If DataSnipper does not appear in Windows Settings, you can use the original installer:

1. Download the setup package from the installation link provided by your DataSnipper contact
2. Unzip the setup package (e.g. DataSnipper Installer Vx.x.x.zip)
3. Run Setup.msi and follow the installation wizard. If the installer is for the same or newer version you have installed, you will see options to Remove or Repair

If you encounter issues with any of the steps above and are unable to uninstall, repair or install DataSnipper, please reach out to your IT team.
