FAQs on New Version Naming
Here are all the frequently asked questions regarding our new version naming update.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- Why are we moving to a new version naming?
The new year.release.patch format makes it easier to understand when a version was released and enables more frequent updates, giving customers greater flexibility. - What happens with the Auto-Updater?
Version 26 and above: auto-updates are mandatory. Version 26 requires User level licensing to be enabled on your license and only ships as an auto-updating release. Static versioning is not available from Version 26 onwards.
No version below Version 26 will auto-update to Version 26, including Version 25. The Auto-Updater will never cross into Version 26. Upgrading to Version 26 is a manual process only. Your organization can plan and control the migration to Version 26 on your own timeline.
For versions below Version 26, the Auto-Updater will update to the latest version within the same track (insider or public). For example: customers on Version 6.1 will auto-update to Version 25.1.x (previously known as Version 7.0). The Auto-Updater will never cross from Version 25 into Version 26.
- Will old version names change?
No, we’re only applying the new naming format to future releases. Existing versions will retain their original names. - What about customers who prefer annual updates?
Updates remain optional. Customers can decide when to update based on their needs and the features they want to adopt. With more frequent releases, you’ll have added flexibility to choose updates that align with your schedule. -
Will there be any impact on compatibility with existing integrations or tools?
No, the new version naming will not affect compatibility with your existing integrations or tools. Everything will work seamlessly as before.
-
