Step-by-step Guide

Extracting data in Excel Online with the Text Snip

  1. Press the Text Snip button into active mode
  2. Select the cell that you want to link to the document
  3. Draw a rectangle around the location of the data on the document 
  4. The data that appears in the cell is now linked to the rectangle on the document 

Add and extract numbers in Excel Online with Sum Snip

  1. Press the Sum Snip into active mode
  2. Select the cell that you want to link to the document
  3. Drag a rectangle around the relevant location on the document
  4. All the numbers in the rectangle are summed into the selected cell. A cross-reference is stored in the excel worksheet

Setting a Validation Snip in Excel Online

  1. Click the Validation Snip button into active mode
  2. Select the cell that you want to link to the document
  3. Drag a rectangle around the relevant location on the document 
  4. The tickmark that appears in the cell is now linked to the rectangle on the document

Adding an Exception Snip in Excel Online

  1. Click the Exception Snip into active mode
  2. Select the cell that you want to link to the document 
  3. Drag a rectangle around the relevant location on the document 
  4. The cross mark that appears in the cell is now linked to the rectangle on the document.
