How to enable and use the SharePoint and OneDrive integrations in DataSnipper

DataSnipper's SharePoint and OneDrive integrations let users browse, search, and import files from your document management system into DataSnipper for Excel. This article walks IT admins through the one-time setup steps needed to enable each integration for your organisation.

Prerequisites:

To enable the integrations, your organisation needs:

  • DataSnipper v26.2 or later
  • The User Management System (UMS)
  • An accepted Data Processing Agreement (DPA) covering integrations. Once accepted, the DPA covers all current and future integrations.
  • A Microsoft 365 administrator account in your tenant.

Note: Integrations are not enabled by default. If you do not see the Integrations button in the DataSnipper ribbon, contact your DataSnipper admin or IT team.

Grant Microsoft 365 admin consent:

A Microsoft 365 administrator must grant DataSnipper one-time consent in your Microsoft tenant before any user can connect. You only need to do this once per integration.

Enable OneDrive

  1. Open the admin consent link: https://login.microsoftonline.com/organizations/adminconsent?client_id=7e82142c-b49a-42c5-924e-97704da45f64
  2. Sign in with a Microsoft 365 administrator account.
  3. Review the requested permissions and select Accept.

Enable SharePoint

  1. Open the admin consent link: https://login.microsoftonline.com/organizations/adminconsent?client_id=91ffecb4-540e-45ce-a14c-901e423504a0
  2. Sign in with a Microsoft 365 administrator account.
  3. Review the requested permissions and select Accept.

What admin consent grants

  • Read-only access to users' OneDrive or SharePoint files, scoped to each user's own Microsoft 365 permissions. DataSnipper inherits — and does not expand — existing user permissions.
  • Seamless sign-in for all users in your tenant. After consent is granted, individual users do not need to approve anything.

Note: DataSnipper requests delegated, read-only OAuth scopes. Every file action happens on behalf of the signed-in user. DataSnipper cannot modify or delete files in SharePoint or OneDrive.

Security and privacy

  • File content never passes through or is stored in DataSnipper Cloud. Files are downloaded directly from SharePoint or OneDrive to the user's device via a short-lived, pre-signed URL.
  • Only connection metadata is stored in DataSnipper (connection owner, integration type, and account display name).
  • OAuth tokens are stored exclusively in Unified.to, DataSnipper's integration provider — never in DataSnipper's database.
  • All traffic is encrypted in transit via HTTPS/TLS.
  • Data residency is preserved through regional deployments (US and EU), aligned to your configured region.
  • The Integrations Platform inherits DataSnipper's ISO 27001 and SOC 2 controls and processes data in line with GDPR.
