How to efficiently perform a language accuracy check with Financial Statement Suite

In DataSnipper version 25.1 and later, you have the ability to validate the language accuracy in your financial statements directly within Financial Statement Suite, with Spell Check.

About Financial Statement Suite

Financial Statement Suite (FSS) is a separate paid DataSnipper Add-on module. FSS automatically analyzes your financial statements and helps to both perform and document all financial statement procedures extremely fast, while relying on your judgment – improving standardization and the overall quality of procedures.

Step-by-step guide

1. Begin by clicking the Financial Statement Suite button in the top right-hand corner of the DataSnipper tab within Excel.

   1. Alternatively, you can launch FSS directly from your desktop by creating a shortcut or pinning it to your taskbar for easy access.

2. Financial Statement Suite will open in a new window. Click on the blue button to Start a new tick and tie.

   

   1. Important to note that Spell Check will NOT work for Imported Projects; You need to create a new project and enable Spell Check.

3. When you start a new tick and tie project, make sure you tick the box to Enable Spell Check.
   1. Select the language of your document from the drop-down menu.
4. Once you have opened your project, you will see this overview page, including all the tests you can perform in FSS (Mathematical Accuracy, Internal Consistency, Spell Check, Prior Year Consistency and Version Compare).
   
   
   
5. DataSnipper automatically places suggestions of valid totals and errors. By hovering over the numbers, you can quickly analyze the suggestions and place tickmarks, based on your judgment.
   1. The same logic applies to the language accuracy checks. FSS will automatically identify spelling mistakes and place suggestions (highlighted in red, with red underlining). You can hover over the Spell check suggestions and place your tickmarks.
      
6. If you want to validate the spelling mistake (verify that it is indeed incorrect), click on the suggestion within your document viewer to place your tickmark. Once you place the tickmark, you will notice the tickmark ‘SP’ is applied to the beginning of the line, and the suggestion has now moved to the Findings.
7. In the left-side Spell Check panel, you can navigate between all the Spell Check suggestions FSS has identified.  
   
   
8. Once you have reviewed the Spell Check suggestions, the tickmarks you have placed should now appear in the Findings sidebar with an automated comment.
9. You can click on either the ‘SP’ tickmark at the start of the line, or the underlined word, to open the tickmark flyout, and make any edits (e.g. Remove tickmark).

Applying multiple tickmarks at once

If you want to apply multiple Spell Check tickmarks at once, you can do that using the drop-down menu in the upper left corner. You can apply multiple tickmarks in four ways:

1. Apply tickmarks to the current page;

2. Apply all the tickmarks to the document;

3. Apply all suggested correct tickmarks to the document;

4. Finally, apply all suggested incorrect tickmarks to the document.
