Getting Started with Smart Split

Learn how to use Smart Split (UpLink) to automatically separate combined PDFs into individual files.

With Smart Split, you can separate combined PDFs into individual files in seconds using AI. For example, a single document containing invoices, confirmations, bank statements, leases, and background checks can be split into separate files.

Each document is renamed with key details (e.g., invoice number and customer name), saving significant time compared to manual splitting and making evidence easier to handle.

Currently, this is only available in UpLink (Azure environment), which is a separate module.

Splitting a Document with AI

1. Upload your document.

  • Start by uploading a PDF file (e.g., a batch of invoices, policies, or background checks).

2. Open the document.

3. Click Split → Smart Split.

  • The system will identify split points, create new files, and rename them automatically.
  • Processing takes from 20 seconds to one minute, regardless of file size (splitting runs in parallel).

4. View results.

  • Each new document will appear separately in your file list.

Undoing or Re-Splitting

If the split result isn’t correct, you can undo and re-run the process:

  1. Go to the split files.
  2. Click Undo Smart Split.
  3. Confirm to restore the original file.
  4. If you want to re-split, you can re-run Smart Split, or use Manual Split.

 

Smart Split is an AI-powered feature. While accuracy is very high, it's not always 100% perfect. The tool works well with many document types, but may be less accurate with longer documents or those with irregular formatting.

If needed, you can always re-split or manually adjust documents after the initial Smart Split.
